BBC: Buffett - "We will do foolish things again"

Warren Buffett is the world"s most successful investor and the second richest person on the planet.

But even Buffett admits to being "scared" when the world"s economy seemed to be on the verge of collapse last year.

Speaking to Today presenter Evan Davis for a money programme special on the investor, he said he understood why the public were angry that no-one had gone to jail over the crash, but still believed government decisions had been essential in allowing the system "to even survive".

Not that he is optimistic that there will not be financial crises in the future, but while "we will do foolish things again", the government had a responsibility to protect the public from financiers mistakes.

The Money Programme special "The World"s Greatest Money Maker: Evan Davis meets Warren Buffett", Monday, 26 October, on BBC Two at 2100.
